Books in Progress I have several book projects in the works. Some are still in development (which means either the idea is still a bit soft in the center or I haven't found a publisher just yet) and some are actually under contract. The ones not spoken for will remain in the oven until they cook a little more. Quite a Sightly Place: the Life and Seasons of a Vermont Dairy Farm (working title). New England hill dairy farms were once one of the primary pillars of life for New England towns and villages. Fifty years ago in the little village of Danby, Vermont there were 50 working dairy farms. Today there are three. This book will capture through words and images the daily work, joys and frustrations of life on an old dairy farm. For text excerpts and sample pictures go to the Farm page on this website. The Creative Way: Secrets of a Life Fulfilled (working title). This text-driven book will present through images and conversation the secrets of success and shared traits of those who live a creative life. Each of the included artists will share their tips and secrets to living a fulfilling creative life as well as their advice on overcoming the frustrations and distractions of everyday life. There will be lots of pictures of the artist’s studios or creative spaces as well as the most recent works in progress. Some very well known and nationally recognized artists will be included in this book. As a long term project I also will be working on a book/presentation/article project tentatively titled- The Nature of New England. This will be an expansion of my The Nature of Vermont book project to cover all of New England and will use the same format and image guidelines. |
