Yearly Calendar 2009 Outdoor Photography Workshop Schedule Announcing David’s new involvement with Photographer’s Alliance Workshops PAW – an exciting workshop and tour company that is redefining the workshop and tour experience. Go to paworkshops.net for more information and workshops. NOTE: David is working on several international trips for 2009/10 right now so stay tuned for complete information on these trips. May 13 – 17 June 21 – 27 July 15 – 19 August 16 – 22 September 9 – 13 September 23 – 27 October 7 – 11 FALL COLOR OF VERMONT - MANCHESTER AREA OCTOBER 7 – 12, 2009 There are few places in the world that are more colorful and spectacular than Vermont in October. The landscape is awash with reds, oranges, golds and yellows as trees, vines, wild meadows and even late flowers shout for a photographer’s attention. The workshop will take place in the heart of Vermont where David lives and happily photographs. Based on his intimate knowledge of the area (he has done two books on Vermont) the workshop will visit his favorite places at the best times- tumbling streams, quiet lakes, rolling hills, quaint villages and classic New England views. As a special treat, David will escort the workshop to the beautiful traditional Vermont hill farm that he has been exclusively photographing for several years. Almost a square mile in size the 250 years old farm is a photographers dream with beautiful old barns, wild meadows and woods, an old sugarhouse, miles of stonewalls and pastures lined with colorful sugar maples. Because of David’s relationship with the farmer we will have complete access to photograph whatever strikes our fancy; new calves in the milk barn, the old barn up on the hill, out in the pastures with the yearlings or the many tractors and old tools. We may even get to photograph real farmers doing real farm stuff! October 14 – 18 MAINE COAST – MT. DESERT ISLAND & ACADIA NATIONAL PARK, OCTOBER 14 – 19, 2009 Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park is the photographer’s playground on the East Coast; there are wonderful images to be found for all photographers here. The tallest mountains on the East Coast are here (you can drive to the top of the tallest!) plus its only true fjord. There are stunning, easily accessible rocky coastlines, beautiful traditional harbors, pretty forest edged lakes and ponds, a great lighthouse and inviting carriage roads curving through colorful woods. All of this packed on an island that you can drive around in just a couple of hours. This workshop is scheduled to coincide with the peak of fall color on the Maine Coast. Mornings will be crisp with fog dancing on the waters and the maples, birch and ash will be bright in the valleys and mountainsides. We expect to capture both sunrise and sunset from the top of Cadillac Mt., photograph the forest and reflections of Jordan and Bubble ponds, drive the famed Ocean Road and wander the quaint villages of Bernard, Southwest Harbor and Somesville.
