the_handlerAnother snowy day here in Vermont so my friend and fellow pro shooter, Lisa Cueman, came over to photograph our two white horses in the falling snow. Because we both can’t shoot- somebody has to deal with the horses- and since horse photography is Lisa’s expertise I am the designated wrangler.

We had some luck with the horses running through the deep snow but it wasn’t easy for them so they did a sustained run only a couple of times. The rest of the time was spent trying to get the horses to move- away from the fences or away from Lisa or away from each other. In case you are interested you get a horse to move through deep snow by moving yourself and bribing the horse with treats. Eventually, the deep snow wins and the horses eye the stalls and the pleasure of a rack full of hay.

The photo I’ve included is typical of the magnificent images that Lisa takes. Go to her website and be really stunned, they are absolutely magnificent! This is just a preliminary image, I can’t wait to see the final version. A photo like this makes being a wrangler well worth it!
